
Gail, who serves as Communications Consultant and Associate Editor, is a seasoned communications specialist who has had a long tenure with the United Nations, including serving as the Spokeswoman for the 61st President of the U.N. General Assembly and Spokeswoman and Chief of Public Information for the U.N. Mission in Ethiopia and Eritrea. The bulk of Gail’s U.N. career was spent as an Information Officer in the Radio service of the Media Division in the U.N. Department of Public Information. She has also worked in the Office of the Under-Secretary-General for Public Information and Communications and in the NGO Relations section. During her career at the U.N., Gail was also the Senior Producer for Caribbean radio programmes and frequently interviewed Caribbean and world leaders as well as other high-level decision makers. She has managed media teams in both New York and Africa and has conducted media training programmes.
Gail is a former Caribbean broadcaster and media manager. In the 1980s, she earned a reputation as one of Trinidad’s top female television newscasters for the national nightly news. Her media career also included working on a government-produced film to promote tourism in Trinidad and Tobago. Gail began her career as a broadcaster at Radio Demerara in Guyana.
She holds a B.A. in English Literature, History and Sociology from the University of the West Indies (UWI) in Trinidad and a postgraduate Diploma in Mass Communications from the UWI Institute of Mass Communications in Jamaica. Gail is also trained in project management, human resources management and performance management.
